Normally I only put a Christmas wreath up from around December 1st onwards… and it’s normally a fresh greenery one, but I’ve decided to get one up early and make it sparkly and fun!
This bauble wreath was put together in just a couple of hours using a LOT of different sized baubles, a hot glue gun and a metal wreath base underneath it all. There are around 45 larger baubles, and 90 smaller ones!
You just simply use the hot glue gun to connect the baubles together (with the top bits facing inwards or towards the back) and hold them together/in position until the hot glues cools and sets. Use lots of glue to also connect the baubles to the wire wreath base too!
These aren’t my ‘normal’ Christmas colours either – I would love to make this again in coppers and gold or a rainbow! (Any suggestions of where to get a rainbow of baubles?) But, I wanted something that would really contrast against the pink of the door. The pops of berry red with deep blue and silvery metallic is my own little nod to the traditional British red white and blue.
I have no idea how this will last in the Wintery weather. I imagine it’ll get a little worn and faded but I think that will only serve to add a vintage feel to it.
Anyway, it makes me smile, I hope it makes others smile when they see it.
Will you give making a bauble wreath a go…? What sort of wreath do you put on your door for Christmas?
