I love doors. Front doors! Wreaths on doors, what colour they are, what door furniture. I am a door geek! And, I genuinely have a thing about doormats too – I love them! They are the welcome into our home (albeit done very little of that in recent times!) They make me happy.

And after seeing Emma Jewell Crafts Cricut* tutorial for making your own personalised doormat on the Hobbycraft IGTV and Facebook page – I just had to give it a try!

This uses Cricut stencil vinyl** and then basic acrylic paint (I used a little black tester pot I picked up from B&Q!) onto a plain door mat I picked up from Amazon. The hardest bit was deciding what to put on it! I wanted to go for ‘Howdy!’, ‘Hey!’ Or even ‘Hello & Goodbye’ – but initially decided to go for something truly personal – ‘The Milner Family’. And, it is a project that genuinely took just about an hour from start to finish.

Then, as soon as I did the ‘The Milner Family’ doormat, I KNEW I HAD to do a Christmas one…

I was planning a simple ‘Merry and Bright’ design – until I looked for some Pinterest inspiration and found the amazing Stephanie Ziajka and then HAD to make this idea instead… Who doesn’t love a bit of Home Alone?!

Easy to do, fun to make, cheap too and just a lovely personalised festive craft.

Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal!
