A very happy and crafty Easter to you!
The last couple of weeks have been full of Easter crafts for The Crafty Lass – especially at the John Lewis and Waitrose head offices with their Craft Club – where I spent a couple of evenings running Introduction to Needle Felting workshops – making some decorative Easter eggs!
A very therapeutic and pretty-simple-when-you-know-how craft – slowly building up layers of 100% wool fleece in a whole myriad of colours, needle felting onto polystyrene egg shapes. We had marbling effects, little flowers, hearts, initials, spots, stripes – we even had a flamingo!! Put simply – just some great evenings of fun, laughter and crafting!
I was hoping for lots of lovely photos to go alongside this blog post (and I do have some!) – but through the wonders of technology (or lack of it, and failing miserably, and user error) – I managed to delete ALL the photos of the Waitrose workshop …That also meant spending approximately an hour of my supposedly lazy Easter Sunday morning trying to fathom how to restore them – and failing. I’ve had to give it up as a bad job, and accept that they are gone. Silver lining – it is a darn good excuse to just eat more chocolate…. not that you need it on Easter Sunday!
Either way, IT issues aside – we had a great time – one quote of the John Lewis evening:
“I have had a horrible day today… but now I am fine”!
After felting their eggs – some people planned to add ribbons to hang them up as pretty decorations, some to simply add to their Easter tables, and some to add to their desk at work to make them smile! 🙂
A successful set of Easter workshops complete for this Crafty Lass. What Easter crafts have you been getting up to?
Don’t forget – if you’d like The Crafty Lass to run a workshop with your team, or at an event – why not get in touch! 🙂
Well, it’s that time again – where exactly has the Summer gone? To be honest, we haven’t had much of an actual ‘Summer’ have we? It’s the 27th August and I am sat here writing this with a hot cup of tea, wearing a warm and cosy woolly jumper looking out on to a grey sky!
So, it’s back to school time! I always loved the start of a new term – sad, I know – but I loved getting my new uniform all ready, packing up my pencil case with lots of lovely new stationery. (Yes, I am definitely a life-long stationery addict!)
I loved the thought of all the new possibilities and opportunities with the term ahead. And you’d get to see all your friends everyday (albeit in Maths or Science!) Even now I sort of feel like September is the start of a new ‘term’. I do like sunshine, but September means it’s nearly Autumn! I look forward to the colourful leaves, the colder nights bringing with it hearty stews, cosy blankets, hat scarf and boots fashion combos – and then even better – Winter and my favourite time of year – Christmas!
Well, in the meantime while I am apparently wishing what is left of our Summer away – love or loathe school – why not start the new year with some great creative ideas with my Top 5… Back to school crafts!
1. Ombre Notebooks.
Look cooler than cool with your own ‘Ombre Notebooks‘. Simply add spray paint…
2. Milk Bottle Lunchboxes!
This DIY is MEGA cool – reuse and recycling at it’s absolute best. This tutorial talks you through turning a 4 pinter milk jug into a lunchbox! Sounds crazy, but it does actually work and looks pretty nifty too.
3. Felt pencil ‘roll’.
A simple, but very effective – and useful! – creative project. Making a little ‘pencil roll out of felt and ribbon – a lovely and easy craft to make! This link is in Greek – but hopefully ‘Google Translate’ will work it’s magic for you. If not – there are some photos that make it a very helpful and thorough tutorial.
4. Flower topped pencils!
Simply cut out different shaped flowers, punch out a hole, and add on to pencils! This little tutorial shows just how effective this can look!
5. Ribbon page markers!
Never lose your place in a textbook again with these clever ribbon markers. All you need are paper clips and ribbon…!
Make, create, inspire!
The inspiration for today comes from a little craft project I have been eyeing up for a while now…it started via Pinterest and a wonderful blog post by Bettina Holst. I have spent a pleasant hour on this cold and crisp Saturday evening making some fantastically bright (and oh-‘sew’ easy!) heart bunting! I can utilise my new pom-poms and decorate The Crafty Lass office too – hooray!
I have visions of making some more of these for Christmas in some sparkly and sumptuous gold and silvers… Watch this space for some future Christmas craft (much) later in the year!
For now, I am going to enjoy my new pink, red and green vibrant addition to the office window. 🙂
